Sample Examination Questions

Below are sample questions in PDF format. If you have trouble with the PDF files please let us know <competition@physics.miami.edu>. The current version of the Acrobat Reader is 4.0.5. Earlier versions do not always display or print correctly the contents of the file. If some symbols appear to be missing on the screen try printing the file and seeing what happens. We have also seen an accurate screen representation but a defective printer driver (some "-" signs disappear). You should return to this page often because sample questions will appear spontaneously.

Viewing requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which may be obtained from Adobe.

Below are some sample multiple choice questions. Some of the questions involve topics not normally covered in a high school physics course. We put them there to give you an idea of the additional material that is covered in the introductory non-calculus university physics course. Some questions require conversion factors, which we will provide in the actual examination. In the samples below you should look them up in your physics text book.

Below are the questions that appeared in the previous examinations.
